So I am starting to get myself back into a consistent writing pattern again and I’ve found this to be rather difficult as I have not felt like I’ve really had a voice. Let me break this down, after having my account hacked, witnessing yet another murder of an innocent black man, my system became overwhelmed with emotion.
Usually when that happens, it takes time for me to sit with it and process. I’m someone who likes to thoroughly process my emotions before speaking or acting as I’ve learned from the past when I act purely from emotion I run the risk of being impulsive and destructive so now I pause and reflect.
What’s alive for me today?
What does a social system look like without oppression/ violence at its foundation?
What does it mean to be connected to your roots?
What does it look like to connect my spirituality and desire for social justice?
What does it look like to use my voice for the benefit of all?
What is the importance of connecting to your primal intelligence?
Those are just some questions I’m sitting with and asking right now.
A friend of mine sent me this perspective of the George Floyd murder- this video has influenced my thoughts and questions.
To witness the movement of Black Lives Matters is truly illuminating the Shades of Ignorance that exist within the system we live in, both externally and internally.
